Our DNA tends to change with the seasons just like the weather does. With the weather starting to shift from that warm, comfortable heat we’ve all grown to love, to the now sometimes-uncomfortable chill of the seasons changing; it can increase inflammation throughout the body. That is because the genes that cause inflammation normally increase in the wintertime. That is when our blood contains a denser blend of immune responders which contain blueprints for proteins that protect us from getting sick. Those immune responders are what cause the inflammation. Inflammation is the body’s way of protecting us against harm. Considering cold and flu season is when we are more susceptible to ‘harm’ (getting sick) our inflammation increases as a defense mechanism.

Inflammation is a big culprit for dozens of chronic illnesses that afflict us these days. It doesn’t discriminate either. It can affect both women and men of different ages. Sadly, it is also often a condition that people suffer through quietly because the effects don’t always present themselves in an obvious form. Someone experiencing pain or discomfort from inflammation looks just like your ‘normal’ person. It’s the way their body feels that doesn’t feel normal. It can cause widespread musculoskeletal pain that can interrupt daily life.

Cannabis can be your best bud when searching for a more natural alternative to helping your inflammation because of the cannabinoids in the plant. Those cannabinoids have anti-inflammatory properties. The most common cannabinoids in weed are THC and CBD. Which are effective in reducing inflammation, by suppressing the inflammatory response to alleviate the symptoms and bring relief.
