Cannabis Concentrates- Shatter and Wax

This boundless plant isn’t just limited to providing us its buds. It comes in other, more concentrated forms as well, such as shatter and wax. The THC content of shatter and wax often reaches about the equivalent of 15 to 20 joints, if high-quality. Could you even imagine 15 to 20 joints in one day? I can’t. Although it's a very heavy-handed approach to enjoying your cannabis, it often lasts longer as well. It’s potency and quick results is exactly why cannabis concentrates are rising in popularity and appreciation. Cannabis wax is ideal for quick pain relief. It’s known to provide fast and temporary relief from depression, anxiety, Crohn's disease, headaches, nausea, chronic pain, etc. That’s because it is more potent than your classic bud-induced high.

Both shatter and wax are considered cannabis concentrates and are both used in dabbing. Dabbing is the process of vaporizing a dab of cannabis concentrate using a necessary tool called a dabbing rig. A dabbing rig is pretty much a modified bong whose bowl equips a dab nail instead of your traditional bud nugs. Shatter and wax also go by; honey oil, Butane Hash Oil (BHO), and 710 (which spells OIL when flipped).

Although shatter and wax are essentially the same thing. Their textures are very different. Shatter is beautifully translucent and golden. Its tints can sometimes differ in hues depending on the strain. The end-product of shatter, resembles melted jolly ranchers or broken glass, hence the name “shatter”

Wax on the other hand, though the same golden color, resembles peanut butter or un-melted coconut oil. Both shatter and wax are sticky but wax, due to its softer consistency is usually best handled with a dab tool to avoid it melting too quickly and being wasted. Shatter however is easier to handle, and it vaporizes quicker. Shatter is also known to provide some of the most distinct flavors of all the concentrates.
