Us women have this very unique organ, called a uterus. That trophy-shaped organ is made special, just for us. The uterus is also home to cannabinoid receptors. Those same receptors work with our endocannabinoid system, to help regulate pain, energy balance, appetite stimulation, mood, etc.
Although, we all have an endocannabinoid system, a woman's is concentrated mainly in her uterus. Believe it or not this disorder is a lot more common than you think, affecting about 176 million women in their reproductive years, worldwide.
Although it's not a cure, cannabis is shown to help relieve the symptoms of endometriosis, by interacting with the endocannabinoid system. The THC in the cannabis plant, is a natural pain reliever that works by deactivating the nerves in the endometrial cells. The CBD in cannabis can also help, by desensitizing the pain receptors within the body. Cannabis is also known to have anti-inflammatory properties, which also equals less pain and inflammation.
